Water Level: Elevated - Water Temp: ~ 79°
*** As of 9:00 Monday, July 26th, the Chain O' Lakes is under a NO WAKE restriction. All boaters must travel at idle speed and watch for floating debris. Launching and boat rentals available, but the Shore Fishing area is closed due to flood. We hope to have it open again by the weekend if waters recede. Call for update. Stripers are biting like crazy - over 100 caught yesterday by the Spring Lake bridge! The water was boiling with fish - I have never seen anything like it on the Chain! Anglers yesterday reported as soon as their hook hit the water - they had a fish! Use small jigs with white twister tail and small minnows, wax worms or spikes. Nice catfish are being caught in the channels around Spring Lake. Nightcrawlers, chicken livers, shrimp or stink bait are all working well. Northern Pike are being taken at the Spring Lake Bridge. Golden roaches are the bait of choice. Two nice ones caught today as well as bluegill and walleye right from the shore. Largemouth bass have been quite active. Several nice ones were hooked recently in the channels around Spring Lake. Nightcrawlers were the bait that worked for these anglers. If using artificial, try weedless frogs at the weed lines. The Walleye action continues to be good! Northern mouth of Petite Lake and sand bar on Lake Marie have both been producing nice fish, but the best areas are the bridges right now because of the water currents. Anglers are limiting out by the Spring Lake bridge most mornings. XL large fatheads, leeches and nightcrawlers are all working well. Bluegill are biting in the channels. Wax worms or redworms are best baits. Use bait on a lime green mini-mite jig for some real action! Stripers, both yellow and white are beginning to bite. Small minnows or spikes on a mini-mite or ice fishing jig work best. Bet luck in Petite Lake, 12-15 feet. Muskie are being spotted in many areas. Deep holes in Channel Lake & Lake Catherine are good, but don't pass up the buoys near airport bay on Bluff Lake. Two bite offs and one boated recently from the east side. Crappie are scattered but being taken from deeper channels or lake shorelines. Small fatheads or spikes on a jig or minimite are working well.
